They charge a $10 technology fee for having the device. Well, I saved 10% right off for signing up for Drive Wise. That was a saving of about $35, reduced to $25 when I factor in the technology fee. I think they ought to provide the device for free.
My new auto insurance policy with Allstate begins March 6, 2012. As part of a premium cost-saving scheme, I agreed to install Drive Wise, Allstate's proprietary telematic device that monitors my speed, distance traveled, hard braking and sudden acceleration all in an effort to reward "safe" driving with up to a 30% reduction in premium. These devices are a fairly new phenomenon and I am going to report on my experience using the device.

I just talked to Allstate about getting 2, one for each car. If the charge $10 apiece, that's $20. NO ONE up front has told me that there is a charge. That sound to me like a class action suit. I would have to save more than 20% just to cover the device charges
